This paper aims to unveil the conceptual construction of the praxis of tolerance in Paulo Freire’s theoretical works. The objectives were: to analyze the principle of the praxis of tolerance in Freire’s writings and the relationships he establishes between this concept and others presented in his works; and to present the contribution of this praxis to pedagogical actions that seek to foster an educational practice aimed at humanization. To support the methodological course of this bibliographic research, the article drew on Salvador (1978), Triviños (1987), and Minayo (1994), following the Osgood procedures proposed by Bardin (2004) for content analysis. The results demonstrate the importance of this conception in Paulo Freire’s theoretical production and highlight its indispensability for discussions on humanization, democracy, dialogicity, and unity in diversity. These findings may contribute by supporting actions and dialogues in educational processes aimed at promoting a humanizing education and healthy coexistence among individuals and between them and the world.
