This text recounts the author’s encounter with sociologist Zygmunt Bauman in 2012 and presents theoretical reflections derived from that experience, especially in the field of education. Using the concept of liquid modernity, the text explores the tensions between formal education and informal knowledge, the impact of digital technologies on subject formation, and the crisis of relevance faced by educational institutions. Bauman’s contribution is highlighted through his proposal of a critical and socially aware education, in dialogue with authors such as Gramsci, Bourdieu, and Foucault. The text reveals not only the thinker’s ideas but also his ethical, human, and empathetic posture, offering a formative experience that transcends the boundaries of academia.
