In this article we present results of a research concerning the theme “History teachers’ continuing education and multiculturalism”. The objective of the research was to analyze the following issues: Do teachers of History major “in” and “for” a multicultural perspective? Which cultural perspective is explicit and implicit in the National Curriculum Parameters of the teaching of History? Do the training institutions work in the perspective of cultural plurality in their formal and active curricula? To answer these questions, written documents and oral interviews were analyzed. The study was carried out with teachers of the courses of History of Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, and was based on the methodology of the thematic oral history. This article aims at socializing analyses produced on the basis of this investigation.
