Abstract

SANTOS, Deribaldo Gomes dos  and  JIMENEZ, Susana Vasconcelos. Graduação tecnológica no Brasil: aproximações críticas preliminares. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2009, vol.15, n.28, pp.171-185. ISSN 1981-0431.

The study seeks to explore the question of short duration undergraduate professional education, known in Brazil as higher technological education. It traces a brief and introductory overview of the politics of national public policies in the educational field, specifically those which are more directly geared towards the children of the working class who require higher education training. In this sense, it attempts to historically contextualize the appearance and evolution of higher technological education in the country. It inquires about the essential mediations which articulate the establishment of this type of schooling to the capital reproduction process within the framework of its structural crisis (Mészáros). From a critical standpoint, the paper assumes that this lesser type of schooling generously illustrates the downgrading and reductionist character attributed to knowledge in all spheres of working class education, besides reediting the historical dualism which permeates education under the power of capital.

Keywords : Higher Technological Education; Educational Dualism; Structural Crisis of Capital.
