This paper discusses teachers training based on the assumptions of Marx and Gramsci’s “emancipating education”. It is based on the need to think about teacher’s training as a privileged sphere for the implementation of an education for the empowerment and autonomy human beings. It argues in favor of surpassing a model of teacher training centered on technical rationality and the epistemology of practice, as a way of materializing the aforementioned proposition. It also seeks to investigate and understand the conceptions and practices proposed in teacher-training projects since the 1990’s, based on which it intends to structure a counterproposal in a perspective of emancipation. This paper is the result of reflections from different research projects, the object of which is the relationship between theory and practice in teacher training.
