We present partial results of a research-observatory, focusing on the distance/ approximation between scientific community and world of work. Masters and PhD graduates are potential protagonists in this interface.We found they improve their life conditions, but they are not often able to improve applications of thesis results in their job and low contribution to society, characterizing waste of public resources. We discuss the limits of the notion of research impact, centered in publications.
