Curricular autonomy policies are currently an international trend in education policies, with new ways of regulation and accountability of schools as a promising way for all students to achieve educational success. This paper describes its meaning and reasons for these policies, contexts (building internal capacity, organizational development), conditions, as well as their effects on improvement. Curricular autonomy opens up the possibility of expanding teacher professionalism and the personalization of learning. Contextualization and curricular flexibility, within the framework of curricular autonomy, enables educational success for all, along with a personalization of learning. Among others, it analyzes the role that pedagogical leadership should play as well as making the school a joint project of action, through a professional learning community.
