Abstract

The objective of the article is to analyze the democratization of basic education in the city of São Paulo from 2013 to 2016, in the Workers' Party administration. The methodological approach was qualitative and documental. The problem refers to the question: what are some of the progress indicators of in the democratization of basic education? Some of them were raised: valuing professionals; raising social quality through universal access and systematic work to guarantee permanence and the most diverse learning; encouraging participation and autonomy in and from schools; and effort in the formulation, approval and implementation of democratizing policies.
