Objective: To characterize the social role of the University through the integration of teaching-service-community in health in Brazil. Methodology: This is a systematic review and meta-synthesis carried out by searching the LILACS, SciELO and MEDLINE databases. Results: A total of 1224 studies were identified and, after applying the exclusion criteria, 19 articles were analyzed. The findings support that extramural practices in the health field prove to be valuable as the applicability of pedagogical practices. Conclusion: The University's social role is reflected in the pedagogical practices of teaching-service-community integration and favors the valorization of users and health care.
