SILVA, Robson Guedes da. Biopolitics, precariousness and education: a thought essay with Butler and Foucault. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2020, vol.26, e32333.  Epub 14-Ago-2020. ISSN 1981-0431.  https://doi.org/10.26512/lc.v26.2020.32333.

This theoretical essay seeks to present the notions of biopolitics and precariousness mobilized by post-structuralist theorists Michel Foucault and Judith Butler. Foucault constructs his notion of biopolitics by thinking of it as the transformation of forms of power since the 18th century, producing specific forms of subjectivities increasingly urged to a neoliberal rationality. Judith Butler presents her notion of precariousness - or precarious lives - based on the problematization of mourning and violence, perceiving them as power operators, producing damaged forms of life, not subject to mourning. Both notions thought about in the field of education, show how biopolitical practices in neoliberal times produce, even in education, different forms of precariousness, bodies that do not matter. The contributions of these theorists in this essay, thought together with education, can articulate new problems to thought, mobilizing from counter-production notions that incite new possibilities to inhabit the present and live a livable life.

Palabras clave : Education; Biopolitics; Precariety.
