Considering that a book is made up of text and paratexts, and that the reader's interaction with both qualifies reading, we intend to investigate how the verbal paratexts biography and synopsis are presented in children's literary works. For this study, we used three stories of PNBE 2014: A princesa desejosa, by Cristina Biazetto, Pedro Noite, by Caio Riter, and A velinha e o porco, by Rosinha. The analysis of the stories considered the formation of the biography and synopsis, taking into account their characteristics, as for example the language used and to whom they are directed. The data point to the relevance of considering data which are present in paratexts in processes of mediation of literary books.
