Abstract

ANTONIO, Luiz Cláudio de Oliveira; KELMAN, Celeste Azulay  and  MOTA, Paola Rodrigues. Convergences and divergences of the TILSP profile in basic and higher education. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2020, vol.26, e26434.  Epub Oct 13, 2020. ISSN 1981-0431.  https://doi.org/10.26512/lc.v26.2020.26434.

Law 12319/2010 regulated the profession of Libras interpreters, but can bring some ambiguities. Aiming to know what they think, this study researched interpreters who work either in Basic or Higher Education. The semi-structured interview was used as an investigative procedure. Results showed that the interpreter in higher education works with people with a better and more specialized degree of Portuguese language understanding, depending on the knowledge area. The associated role of educator is more present in Basic Education than in Higher Education. Conclusions come to the idea that the interpreter is never neutral in his role, making different interpretations regarding his professional practice.

Keywords : Interpreter of Libras; Professional Profile; Higher Education; Basic Education.
