Abstract

TRINDADE, Deoclecia de Andrade  and  GUIMARAES, Marcos Denilson. A history of the mobilization of measures in the context of Design purposes. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2020, vol.26, e33042.  Epub Oct 02, 2020. ISSN 1981-0431.  https://doi.org/10.26512/lc.v26.2020.33042.

From the perspective of the history of mathematics education, this text presents the results of a study that discussed how the measures may have been mobilized in the context of the purposes of teaching drawing for the primary course in São Paulo, in the period from 1890 to 1950. For that, the teaching programs of São Paulo promulgated at the time and the results of researches conducted by Guimarães (2017) and Trindade (2018) were taken as basis for analysis. In this sense, the analysis was guided by the theoretical and methodological references from cultural history. After the examination, we can say that the mobilization of measures associated to the context of the purposes of teaching drawing, in order to guarantee the representation of geometric and/or natural drawings, was given priority and implicitly with emphasis on an intuitive measure, conferred and associated with the development of manual and visual skills related to the reproduction of geometric figures, or to the copying of nature and/or manufactured models.
