Abstract

LORENZZON MAFFIOLETTI, Gabriella Suzana; TEIXEIRA, Edival Sebastião  and  PAGLIOSA CORONA, Hieda Maria. Thoughts on modernity, science, mental health and work at the university. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2021, vol.27, e34212.  Epub Jan 19, 2021. ISSN 1981-0431.  https://doi.org/10.26512/lc.v27.2021.34212.

This article outlines reflections on modernity that, as a worldview, continues to influence determining aspects of today's society, such as science and work. Data about the absence from work of public servants of two federal education institutions are presented, which demonstrate how the modern organization of work has affected the mental health of workers. We propose to rethink the dual ontology, derived from Cartesianism, from the ontology of life, which by broadening the view, makes the problems that are currently experienced, such as mental illness, can be interpreted according to new perspectives.

Keywords : Modernity; Science; Mental health and work; Life ontology.
