We searched the National Campaign for Rural Education Journal to learn what was the role of nurses during the National Campaign for Rural Education, carried out in Brazil from 1952 to 1963. The objectives were to examine the criteria adopted to recruit and train nurses and learn whether their work contributed to improving life quality of the rural population.
