Abstract

This study addresses with the schooling of black people in the province of Pará at the end of the nineteenth century. For the development of this research, was used the bibliographic and documentary methodology. Starting of the analyzes realized is possible to conclude that the paraense education given to black people was excluding and that the government's actions in relation to schooling were marked by a minimal performance in the area of ​​school insertion. However, it was possible to identify the presence of black people in the initiatives of private institutions. Such initiatives were discontinuous, which evidenced the absence of black people school inclusion.
