This article aimed to analyze the effects of accountability mechanisms (evaluation, accountability, and responsibility) on public high schools belonging to the state network of Pernambuco. As methodological procedures, document analysis and semi-structured interviews with teachers who work in high school were used. The results of the research demonstrate that, in the State of Pernambuco, the accountability mechanisms have entailed effects such as gaming practices, as well as charging and regulation via evaluation results, indelibly, in relation to the teaching work.
