MEJIA PEREZ, Riger Fernando. Indigenous migrant children working in urban contexts: participation, power, and resistance. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2021, vol.27, e35051.  Epub 25-Fev-2021. ISSN 1981-0431.  https://doi.org/10.26512/lc.v27.2021.35051.

In the tsotsil mayan cosmovision, children are considered active participants in family and community dynamics. Practices such as working in childhood are highly valued in their communities. Nevertheless, when they migrate to cities for work, children must confront daily an urban and hegemonic model of childhood legitimized in institutions that limit their participation, principally in the economic sector. This article presents insights into forms of participation that tsotsil children continue to reproduce after migrating to urban contexts in México, such as practices of resistance in the face of child labor prohibitions.
