Abstract

NARVAEZ AGUILERA, Arturo. Youth subjectivities of street culture: participation and exclusion in Xalapa. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2021, vol.27, e35205.  Epub May 21, 2021. ISSN 1981-0431.  https://doi.org/10.26512/lc.v27.2021.35205.

The text that is presented addresses the youthful subjectivities of street culture, as a field of tensions incorporated in the survival experiences in urban space. The strategies of organization, inhabiting and participation in street places in Xalapa, Veracruz (Mexico) are situated as forms of sociability and reproduction of collective life in the streets, which are translated into the internalization of a socio-history of social exclusion in capitalist societies. In addition, the mechanisms of social control in neoliberal spaces are analyzed, which limit the deployment of citizenship of young people in contexts of life and work in the streets.

Keywords : Subjectivity; Participation; Agency; Social exclusion; Street culture.
