This article analyzes the impacts of high school student’s participation in occupations in public schools that took place in Santa Catarina, in 2016, in their reconstitution as political subjects. In particular, occupied schools in western Santa Catarina. Methodologically, it comprised conversation circles and semi-structured interviews with young people self-denominated occupiers. Based on an interdisciplinary theoretical-conceptual approach, we will argue that these occupations were marked by experiences of (self) political formation and resistance by the occupiers in defense of public education.
