Abstract

SOARES, Ana Paula da Silva Amaral; VALERIANO, Jessica do Prado  and  ARRUDA, Tate Aquino de. "Princess Mononoke" (1997): movie analysis and application in Environmental Education. Linhas Críticas [online]. 2022, vol.28, e43974.  Epub Oct 18, 2022. ISSN 1981-0431.  https://doi.org/10.26512/lc28202243974.

The present study aims to analyze some of the central themes in the animation film “Princess Mononoke”, such as ecology, the anthropic influence in nature, and also spirituality, as a means of introducing these concepts on a classroom to stimulate debates on environmental education. By bringing a media artifact such as the aforementioned eastern film to the school – although it is a mature and graphic choice of media, it is intended for the young audience – we look forward to create a space for expansion of ideas and to broaden cultural realities, and also allow the connection of multiple cultures, promoting a deep reflection on the impact mankind has on our environment.
