The thriving economic relations between China and Portuguese-speaking countries making China one of the countries where the Portuguese teaching has registered the highest growth. This essay promotes an analysis of the current situation of Portuguese language teaching in China, focusing on the various challenges that post-pandemic times entail. In this context, issues such as learning resources, student and teacher mobility, students' job opportunities or legal requirements are some demanding topics that currently acquire new dimensions and give rise to new reflections around the present and the future of Portuguese teaching in mainland China.
