This article presents the results of a research on Professional and Technological Education in Brazil and the approach Science-Technology-Society (STS). The aim was to identify points of epistemological convergence between the teaching modality and approach. To achieve this objective, a qualitative bibliographical research was conducted, based on the works of Frigotto (1999), Cardoso (2008), Frigotto et al. (2005), Garcia (2000), and others. After analyzing, we found several points of convergence that were categorized into two emerging themes: the first one deals with the concepts. The second theme reveals methodological guidelines and objectives proposed.

Keywords : Professional and Technological Education; STS Approach; Epistemological foundations.
