The precariousness of teacher's working conditions are difficult to measure. It affects their professional life and their external social relations. Aiming at broadening this debate, this paper analyzes the sick leave of teachers of municipal educational system in Brazil in 2016, analyzing 1,253,295 cases. Understanding, in dialogue with other searches, that the precariousness of working conditions is one of the explanatory hypotheses for the phenomenon. The outcome shows that children’s education and the municipal educational system in Southeastern, Midwestern and Southern regions have the highest index of sick leave.
