The text presents the results of a survey that aimed to understand whether students and teachers are aware of the changes that have been proposed for Brazilian education through the High School Reform. Specifically, it sought to understand the changes that may impact the quality of teaching and the profession of the teacher who works in high school. In this perspective, a bibliographical and documentary study was carried out from the academic production on this theme in the scope of official publications of the federal government, as well as from the productions of researchers who have studied the subject in order to understand Law 13,415/2017 from visions. More criticisms about the new high school model proposed in Brazil. A field research was also carried out, supported by the application of online questionnaires to teachers and students enrolled in the Chemistry Degree course at the Federal Institute of Goiás-Campus Itumbiara. In general, the study highlights the main changes in high school from critical studies by scholars on the propositions of Law 13,415/2017 and shows some views of students and professors of a degree course in Chemistry on this theme, which still demonstrated doubts, as well as lack of knowledge about the changes presented for the new high school.
