Abstract

MAGALHAES, Wesley Brito  and  ASSIS, Lúcia Maria de. Neoliberalism, Theory of Human Capital and Evaluation: Contributions to the Debate of Educational Policies. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2020, vol.14, e73335.  Epub Dec 01, 2021. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v14i0.73335.

The article aims to contribute to the current debate on Education that has been called by neoliberals to develop the subjects as competitive and entrepreneurs for themselves. It is a theoretical study based on the Foucaultian notion of neoliberal society. It problematizes the neoliberalism and the theory of human capital as the guidelines for public policies that assimilate the values of the new public management, based on meritocracy and competition in and between schools. It signals that neoliberal rationality imposes mechanisms that simplify educational reality, such as the indicators resulting from large-scale evaluations, which makes it difficult and sometimes prevents the full exercise of an emancipatory educational practice.

Keywords : Neoliberalism; theory of human capital; large-scale evaluations.
