The article focuses on the contemporary trend of creating its own external evaluation system by the municipal governmental sphere in the country and aims to map, characterize and analyze the experiences of implementing such systems in seven municipalities. From a qualitative approach, the study included bibliographical, documentary and questionnaire research. The results obtained evinced a hybrid character in the locality evaluative initiatives studied: while subnational federal entities use autonomy to implement their own external evaluation systems aimed at meeting their needs/particularities, they also align to the logic of the federal evaluation model, incorporating and reproducing certain aspects of national external evaluations.
