Abstract

BRAGA, Daniel Santos  and  PEREIRA, Isabella Adriane Martins. Public policies on teacher training and distance education: a path to achieving the PNE (?). J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2020, vol.14, e72131.  Epub Apr 20, 2022. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v14i0.72131.

The object of reflection of this article is the possibilities of using distance education as an instrument to achieving the goals and strategies of the National Education Plan (2014-2024) concerning the teachers training. An analysis of the current legislation contents and a discussion on the distance education specifics were carried out. A survey of information on this modality was also conducted in the Higher Education Census. The main findings of the research are that this educational modality provision is considered by the legislator as an instrument that can be used for teacher training policies. In addition, it was possible to empirically verify that, in fact, the modality has been recurrently used in recent years, with emphasis on the higher level. However, despite its potential, distance education also has limits for the effective achievement of national education targets.
