Abstract

BADY, Janaína Bueno; SILVA, Denise Regina Quaresma da; FOSSATTI, Paulo  and  JUNG, Hildegard Susana. Internationalization of Higher Education: forming global citizens. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2020, vol.14, e68722.  Epub Apr 20, 2022. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v14i0.68722.

In this paper we are approaching challenges and possibilities derived from internationalism in Higher Education. We take as references Miranda and Fossatti (2018), Gacel-Ávila (2003), Godoy (1995), Knight (2004), Miranda and Stallivieri (2017), Morin (2005), Rudzki (1998), Sebastian (2004) and Stallivieri (2017a, 2017b). We employ a qualitative methodology for a systematic review of the literature. Within our collection of data we compose a bibliographical and documentary survey. As a result we are discussing a public policy regarding the internationalization of Higher Education as part of a State Project, which puts as a priority the cultural competence as a key curricular objective that stimulates international mobility (MIRANDA; FOSSATTI, 2018). Also the need for institutional internationalization in order to stimulate a better and equalitarian development of Nations by the offer of education and to contemplate academic mobility of school staff. We propose that academic institutions could broaden their interdisciplinary and intersectorial dimensions, fostering sustainable development and the formation of critical thinking, stimulating multicultural experiences and enabling academic individuals to be global citizens.
