This research may be characterized as a meta research, considered as Research on researches (MAINARDES, 2018b). Meta research searches for analyzing theoretical and methodological foundations used in a determined text sample. The sample has 56 dissertations of the Linha 1 - Políticas Educacionais, História e Organização da Educação, of the Postgraduation Program in Education of the Universidade Estadual do Centro-oeste (PPGE/UNICENTRO). This work has as aim at categorizing theoretical and methodological aspects of 56 dissertations of the Line 1 from the concepts of meta research in educational policies (MAINARDES, 2017, 2018a, 2018b). The work tries to use and improve concepts of the meta research proposal in educational policies. Analysis categories are: (1) research type; (2) approach; (3) research instrument; (4) research subjects; (5) coverage and (6) research locus. The result of this classification meets the enunciation by the authors in their researches. So, the analysis was based on the concept of explicitness of the categories listed. However, explicitness of theoretical and methodological assumptions does not ensure They were appropriately used by the researchers in the text content. The need for studies on verification of works already formulated is reinforced, both of Postgraduation programs and faculties. Thereby will be possible diagnosing the training offered to the researcher regarding the use of theoretical and methodological aspects.
