Abstract

FAVA, Helder de Lima; HALL, Rosemar José  and  CINTRA, Renato Fabiano. Indicators in Student Assistance: What Does the Literature ‘Say’?. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2022, vol.16, e83591.  Epub May 30, 2023. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v16i0.83591.

Decree No. 7,234/2010 of the Federal Government of Brazil provides for the National Student Assistance Program (PNAES)which, in addition to providing guidelines for the execution of student assistance processes, establishes the need for federal educational institutions to create mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the program. The objective of this article is to explore the use of indicators in the context of student assistance policy in higher education in Brazil, through the systematic analysis of scientific production. A qualitative and exploratory approach is guided by several reference bases (Scielo, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar and Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations). The results showed few publications of indicators in the scope of evaluation and monitoring of student assistance and indicate local and isolated directions. As a contribution, it corroborates the need to create and expand the mechanisms that assist in the process of evaluation, monitoring and management of the PNAES, as well as suggestions for future research.
