With global communication, the relationship between universities has become more complex, creating new connections, consolidating an international cooperation agenda, with increasing knowledge transfer, which makes it imperative to understand the intertwining of these different cultures. This article aims to understand and identify some strategies and actions in the scope of internationalization reported by undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in Higher Education Institutions in Brazil and Portugal. In addition to the bibliographic review that demarcates the field of internationalization policies of Brazilian education, this study also aimed to conduct semi-structured interviews with undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in Brazilian and foreign universities in the year 2020. The realization of this study allows us to better understand the contradictions that mark the context of the internationalization of Brazilian and foreign universities revealing difficulties and challenges.
