This study addresses the constitution of the new System of Assessment of Basic Education (Saeb) which was proposed by the Ministry of Education (MEC) in 2021. After bibliographical research, it will be described the intent of the assessment as well as the modifications which their evaluation instruments underwent according to the standards and the needs of each historical setting. Finally, as of a documentary analysis, the changes on Saeb, presented by the ordinance number 10 from MEC, and its alignment with the National Common Curriculum Standards (BNCC). It is noted that the new proposal of assessment from the Federal Government presents an aggravation of neoliberal tendencies such as control and accountability of basic education institutions in Brazil.
