Abstract

TAMIAO, Cecilia Teresinha Miranda  and  MACHADO, Cristiane. What does the national academic production reveal about the formation of the school director?. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2022, vol.16, e87161.  Epub May 30, 2023. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v16i0.87161.

Considering the social, political and economic transformations and changes in the role and profile of the school principal, this article aims to systematize the academic production on the training of school principals and explore possible contributions of doctoral theses to the debate in the area. The study is based on the State of the Matter methodology. The survey, carried out between October and November 2020, in the repositories of CAPES and BDTD, located 333 academic works among dissertations and theses. After excluding duplicates and discarding academic works that did not directly correspond to the theme, based on the reading of titles and abstracts, 36 works were found, being 10 doctoral theses and 26 master's dissertations. Based on reading the full text of 9 theses, the study concludes: there is evidence of lack of planning of a public policy for the continuing education of school principals; in the reports, the administrative demands consume the principals and little is left for the pedagogical; democratic management is a difficult process to be built and consolidated by all who work in the school and the managerialist conception of school education management is strongly identified in the formative actions investigated in the theses.

Keywords : School director; State of the matter; Managerialism.
