In recent years there has been a significant growth of people with disabilities enrolled in regular education, highlighting the importance of initial and continuing teacher training for special education. In this context, the work aims to investigate how the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Sudeste de Minas Gerais (IFSUDESTEMG) – Campus Barbacena is developing teacher training for Special Education in Licentiate courses. The qualitative research was carried out through documentary and bibliographic research, analyzing the Pedagogical Course Projects, the curricular matrices and the menus of the Degree in Biology, Physical Education and Chemistry, available on the institution's official website. The results indicate that the teaching of Special Education is present but occupies a restricted place in training. Regarding the number of subjects offered, the research shows that the offers are not enough to provide undergraduates with a vision of the role they will develop in relation to students with special needs. We conclude that it is essential for the Institution to rethink the curriculum of Licentiate courses to promote teacher training aimed at performance with students target audience of Special Education in regular classrooms.
