This piece of work aims to analyze what is proposed in the Childhood Education’s Administration Program, published by the Municipal Department of Education (SME) of Curitiba, in 2021, that presents a combined model to the selection process of principals in Municipal Childhood Education Centers from Curitiba. By a document analysis, the selection process model under discussion is examinated using the democratic administration values presented by authors from the field (ANGUS, 1993; FREIRE, 1967; PARO, 2003, 2010, 2012, 2016; SOUZA, 2007, 2012), observing the effects derived from the educational work. It is possible to verify that there is no significant change regarding the already established frame of references to the position, maintaining only the criteria determined by the SME of Curitiba, concerning the selection of principals who will work in childhood education institutions, to the detriment of more participative ways that include a public consultation for the school and local community’s opinion.
