Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Renato Jose de. Ethics in school: defending an argumentative approach. Educação. Porto Alegre [online]. 2014, vol.37, n.3, pp.454-462. ISSN 1981-2582.  https://doi.org/10.3703/set-dez201413.

This article reflects about the work with ethics in schools, focusing on the context of elementary school. Based on the emergence of problems relating to the changes in moral values and forms of behavior on the part of the students we examine two issues: 1) How to think ethics from the point of view not dogmatic and argumentative? 2) What challenges we must face in ethics education in the context of current school? The first issue is discussed from the contributions of Kant, Habermas and Perelman. The second one is based on reflections made on reports of managers of municipal public schools of Rio de Janeiro, picked in an extension course taught in 2008.

Keywords : Ethics; Elementary School; Public School; Argument.
