Abstract

STRECK, Danilo Romeu. Research in South Brazil: trajectories and tendencies. Educação. Porto Alegre [online]. 2015, vol.38, n.2, pp.263-271. ISSN 1981-2582.  https://doi.org/10.15448/1981-2582.2015.2.19658.

The purpose of the article is to analyze marks of the trajectory and tendencies of research in South Brazil. The study is based on reports from the graduate schools of education as well as on consultations with coordinators and selected researchers in the region. As marks of the trajectory, there were identified: a) the origin related to challenges from regional realities; b) the strong collective spirit; c) the need to construct identity through respective journals and research themes. There are also identified three tendencies: a) the shift from individual to collective practices in research; b) the movement in search for internationalization; c) the search for quality of production in the context of controversial processes of evaluation. The conclusion highlights the fact that a) there has been built an important potential for developing research in the region in terms of geographical coverage as well of human resources, and b) 'consolidation' still expresses the reality of great part of the graduate programs.
