This paper presents a cutting of survey developed under the State of the Art on publications involving mathematics education focused on youth and adult education during the period 2000-2010, in journals of the Qualis Listing (CAPES-MEC). We present the topic Training/teaching/literacy in adult education. Among the analyses that could be made from the data collected, we tried to defend a specific training to the teacher who works in adult education. Training should open spaces for reflection and debate on specific characteristics of this type of education. We understand that the formation of the adult education teacher does not end when he gets a certificate. It is just another step and his education shall never cease. Initial training and continuing education are complementary.
