Abstract

MAUES, Olgaíses Cabral  and  BASTOS, Robson dos Santos. Policies on internationalization of Higher Education: the Brazilian context. Educação. Porto Alegre [online]. 2017, vol.40, n.3, pp.333-342. ISSN 1981-2582.  https://doi.org/10.15448/1981-2582.2017.3.28999.

The internationalization of higher education in Brazil has been showing a significant growth, especially if we consider the two last decades in which some policies concerning this aspect were established. The use of internationalization as a way of increasing the competition between countries and to foster the knowledge society has led some governments to establish policies for higher education that can meet these demands, which may mean the mercantilization of knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to present the analysis of some of these Brazilian policies for internationalization involving the mobility of students and teachers. In this study we search to identify the main vectors of the programs, actions and strategies defined by governments, seeking to verify the motivations of their institution and the concept of internationalization that permeates them.
