Abstract

CASAGRANDE, Cledes Antonio  and  BOUFLEUER, José Pedro. The education and the task of culture, solidarity and personality formation. Educação. Porto Alegre [online]. 2018, vol.41, n.1, pp.135-144. ISSN 1981-2582.  https://doi.org/10.15448/1981-2582.2018.1.24727.

This article discusses, according to Habermas’ theory of communicative action, the role of school education in face of the tasks of appropriation and reconstruction of cultural knowledge, development of solidarity ties and stabilization of a personal identity. We argue that learning processes play a fundamental role in the maintenance and reproduction of the so called structural components of the lifeworld - culture, society and personality. Therefore, it’s up to the educational institution to assess and guide the processes of teaching and learning as from the perspective of understanding the symbolic structure of knowledge, of the reconstruction of cultural knowledge and formation to responsibility and solidarity, as well as assisting the formation of a personal identity more decentered and more suited to the challenges of today's world.

Keywords : Education; Culture; Solidarity; Identity; Communicative Action.
