It is aimed, from the post-structuralist cultural studies articulated to the Education field, to understand how the School Uniform Manual the “Boa Pinta (good-looking) Program – School Uniform” takes part in the production of senses on the garments to go to school in Pelotas city schools. In order to fulfill this goal, we have analyzed the School Uniform Manual, distributed along with the uniforms of the Pelotas city schools, from the concept of cultural representation. This discussion focused how the clothes can discipline and regulate individuals establishing understandings about egalitarianism, hygiene and security, which work to produce specific ways to dress up to go to school that, on the contrary to what may seem, appearance is valued.
