The book Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire has been the main reference in the dissemination of Freirean education in different countries in the world. The purpose of this article is to weave reflections on Pedagogy of the Oppressed and its importance in the construction of Paulo Freire ‘s educational thinking, as well as to present Paulo Freire’ s legacy in the education of young people and adults in different contexts of his journey through the world. It consists of a bibliographical research, involving works by Paulo Freire and authors who study and research on Paulo Freire, among others. Regarding the results, Paulo Freire's legacy grows around the world, especially in the number of Chairs, Institutes and Research Groups, which focus on studies on the theory and practices of Freirean education, besides the training of educators, publications and academic and cultural events.
