This essay discusses music as a formation problem (Bildung) according to Espinosa. The interpretative feature takes Ethics (1677) as a starting point. Ethics, aesthetics, and epistemology are related in the recovery of the relation between what is sensible and intelligible in the monist philosophy context. The essay returns to the position of Espinosa in relation to the criticism of platoniccartesian dualism, followed by the interpretative reconstruction of three parts of the Ethics text: part one (God), two (nature and the Origin of the Mind) and three (The Origin and Nature of the Affections); and, finally, the interpretation of the formative- musical dimensions according to the philosopher being studied.
