This article registers a remarkable stage of my career and highlights the essence of scientific research in personal and professional training. Highlights the role of universities and, in particular, community institutions for the science and in the training of scientists, in a perspective of integral training, that congregates the exercise of citizenship and qualification for work. The research agenda of my master's and PhD in Education at PUCRS is closely connected to my professional practice, contributing to my personal development and the innovation of the professional spaces in which I was working. In the master's dissertation, I investigated the Education of primary education managers of the Marist Network, proposing training paths in the light of the Marist Brazil Educational Project. In the PhD, the investigation resulted in a proposal for an organization for the Marist International Higher Education Network, articulating internationalization theories for higher education and network theory. The two studies, connected to my professional activity, contributed to integral training, reiterating the contribution of research as a promoter of the development of people and science and generating an impact on society.
