Abstract

NAGASE, Raquel Hissae  and  AZEVEDO, Mário Luiz Neves de. Basic education evaluation policy and governance in times of platform capitalism: the consolidation of a digital education market. Educação. Porto Alegre [online]. 2024, vol.47, n.1, e-45626.  Epub Feb 05, 2025. ISSN 1981-2582.  https://doi.org/10.15448/1981-2582.2024.1.45626.

This article aims to analyze the influence of basic education evaluation policies on educational governance. To this end, the centrality of management is discussed, emphasizing the educational context; subsequently, the role of evaluation for governance is discussed, in a scenario marked by the use of data, algorithms, digital platforms and, consequently, what Srnicek (2017) calls platform capitalism. Next, the materialization of the influence of evaluation on the advancement of educational governance is explained. This analysis is based on a critical historical and sociological approach and, in particular, uses Nick Srnicek's (2017) studies on platform capitalism to support the understanding that the evaluation policy of Brazilian basic education has contributed to the implementation of algorithmic governance, favoring the market and its expansion.

Keywords : evaluation; basic education; algorithmic governance; platform capitalism; digital educational market.
