NAIDITCH, Fernando. Bridging Divides: Navigating the political and cultural barriers to DEIB. Educação. Porto Alegre [online]. 2024, vol.47, n.1, e-46627. Epub 05-Fev-2025. ISSN 1981-2582. https://doi.org/10.15448/1981-2582.2024.1.46627.
In this article, the author explains the meaning and the historical development of DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) and DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging). DEIB policies have regulated the way companies and educational institutions have implemented their recruitment efforts in order to attract a diverse body of students and workforce. However, in the past few years, there has been a very vocal anti-DEIB movement that argues against the constitutionality of these policies. The article presents arguments both for and against DEIB policies and programs and concludes by stating the need for maintaining these policies, particularly given the socio-economic impact that DEIB policies have.
