Abstract

VALENTE, Wagner Rodrigues. A matemática moderna nas escolas do Brasil: um tema para estudos históricos comparativos. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2006, vol.06, n.18, pp.19-34. ISSN 1981-416X.

This article argues for necessity of comparative historic studies aiming to understand the inheritance left by the Modern Mathematics Movement and its impact on pedagogic practices in mathematics teaching in Brazil. The paper considers historio-cultural theoretical and methodological references, using these as basis from which to justify the need to carry out investigations in different Brazilian cities, where groups involved in the disseminating and research Modern Mathematics were created.
