Abstract

The article was based on bibliographical researches, aiming to show how big is the responsability of the people who define the content of the curriculum for the schools. Moreover, the curriculum isn’t only educational instrument, but it also has an enormous influence in the social and in the cultural context. The curriculum isn’t neutral; thereby, it is a vehicle of selected knowledge, it is binding to the power, to the homogenization or differentiation of the school. Consequently, the educators need to intent the sociological and cultural implications, when elaborate the scholar curriculum. Some concepts and objectives are presented; they vary according the vision of the society and the effective ideology, since the pre-modern until the current time. Each period presents peculiar characteristics which are reflected in the curriculum and, consequently, in the man’s formation. The school is one of the institutions capable to change the reality of the contemporary world, and the curriculum is a very important instrument.
