Abstract

FAVORETTO, Irlaine; BOAS, Lúcia Villas  and  ENS, Romilda Teodora. Hospital classes: a study of the productions of the National Congress on Education (EDUCERE). Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.79, pp.1688-1705.  Epub Feb 22, 2024. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.23.079.ao20.

This article aims to analyzes the productions in the database of the Annals of the National Congress of Education - EDUCERE (PUCPR) about hospital classes, a segment of education that enables the beginning or the continuity of the learning process of children and adolescents who, for being hospitalized, are away from the school. To do so, we carried out a selection of papers, from 2008 to 2019, in the event’s presentation modalities (communication, round table, poster, and experience report) that contained the terms hospital class (es), hospital teaching, hospital education, school in hospital, schooling hospitalization and hospital teacher in the title, abstract and/or key words regardless of the thematic axis. The selection culminated in 56 works in which their abstracts, after processed by the textual statistics program Alceste, generated five classes whose analyses showed: a focus on the teacher’s figure and his/her performance in the hospital room (Class 1), the professional identity (Class 2) and the tensions of the class (Class 3); issues related to the implementation of hospital classes located in the interface between the education and health areas, on a national (Class 4) and state (Class 5) level. In view of the results, we highlight the relevance of studies that explore the knowledge already produced in order to generate new research that satisfy or increase the questions that remain open in order to enhance the possibility of a harmanious movement between the areas of education and health.
